Safety and Urgent Needs

Feeling safe is fundamental to student success. Rutgers offers 24/7 emergency response services for public safety, medical and psychological concerns, fire, and support for those impacted by interpersonal violence or other crimes. We recognize that the university is large and complex, and knowing which office to call can be difficult. For urgent and immediate issues, help is just a phone call or text away.

We're here when you need us:

  • What is the phone number for RUPD?
  • "I'm worried about a friend and need to talk to someone."

In case of an emergency, call or text 911.

From the moment you arrive at Rutgers, opportunities for self-discovery and growth await. Orientation programs will connect you with the Rutgers–New Brunswick community and introduce many ways to get involved. The first semester is a time of transition, with curricular and co-curricular experiences like small seminars, retreats, workshops, and mini-courses focused on personal discovery and leadership skills.
