Mapping Your First Semester

This workshop is designed for first-generation students! At Rutgers University-New Brunswick, we define first-generation as any student with neither parent having received a four-year college degree. Current first-generation students have shared that opportunities like this have assisted them in being successful when starting college.

This Welcome Week experience will be held on Saturday, August 29th from 1:00pm to 3:30pm in the Livingston Student Center, Multipurpose Room. Followed by a First Generation Social in the Livingston Student Center Rutgers Zone from 3:30pm to 5:00pm. This program is interactive - helping you build skills, confidence, and connections as you prepare for your first semester. Through activities, peer conversations, and campus resources, you will learn strategies for time management, studying, navigating college expectations, and building a support system. Registration is required by August 26, 2026.
