The office of the Dean of Students – Advocacy, Outreach & Support assists students experiencing unexpected challenges which impact academic performance, time to degree completion, finances, and their overall student experience. The office serves as a support network by providing advocacy, problem-solving strategies, resource referral, and critical incident intervention when additional assistance is needed.

Students may meet with a staff member during Virtual Drop-In Hours (Monday–Thursday, 1:30–4:30 p.m.) or scheduled appointments (Monday–Friday, 9 a.m.–4 p.m.). Rutgers Emergency Services offers the National Safety Council's Defensive Driving Course, enabling students, faculty, and staff members to meet the University requirement to operate a University-owned, leased, or rented vehicle. Members of the University community without driving responsibilities may also enroll in the course for the personal benefits of both the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Insurance Premium Reduction Program and NJ Driver's License Point Reduction Program as eligible.

Degree Navigator is a flexible, easy-to-use degree audit and academic advising system for undergraduate programs. The system is designed to assist you with the process of managing your degree requirements.

Douglass Residential College provides DRC students with professional staff mentors. Mentors adopt a holistic approach, connecting students to relevant academic opportunities, resources for career development, and leadership possibilities. Students may wish to continue working with their assigned mentors throughout their years at Douglass, or find other mentors in areas closer to their majors.

The Eagleton Fellowship offers select Rutgers graduate students the opportunity to further their understanding of government, public affairs, and the practice of politics. All Rutgers graduate students are eligible to apply for this one-year, interdisciplinary certificate program.

Building knowledge, skills, and networks for political, government, and community engagement

The Eagleton Undergraduate Associates Program is an interdisciplinary certificate program for all Rutgers juniors interested in American politics and government. Associates spend parts of their last three semesters linking the study of politics to its real-world application, building knowledge, skills, and networks for political, government, and community engagement. Eagleton Undergraduate Associates earn nine credits through a series of three unique courses (one each semester). 

They participate in program sessions, and an experiential trip to the State House, in addition to completing a public service internship in American Politics, government, policy, or advocacy. They learn about political power and decision-making while honing their leadership and professional skills.

The Emergency Notification System (ENS) is used at Rutgers University to send emergency text messages to alert subscribed users on their cell phones during situations of emergency, as deemed by Public Safety. Periodically, ENS alerts are also sent out for the purposes of system testing.
